I think this pretty much sums up my thoughts on Mako. I don’t HATE him as a character or think he’s a terrible person, but he definitely makes some pretty poor choices. And yes, he is confused, and yes, makes some bad decisions just like everyone does. But while that makes it possible to SYMPATHIZE with him it does not make it possible to EXCUSE him for his actions. Unless the writers plan to utilize Mako’s obvious character flaws to develop him for the better and learn from his mistakes, Mako will unfortunately remain as somewhat of a jerk.
